Michael Dalto is a big, old benefits geek. He has been helping people with disabilities understand how work affects SSDI and other benefits for 37 years. He consults with the National Federation of the Blind, the National Association of Blind Merchants, state agencies, universities and nonprofit organizations throughout the U. S. He loves to help people use safety nets called “work incentives” that protect benefits when they work, so they can overcome their fears about losing benefits, and focus on achieving their career goals.
Michael Dalto, our Social Security specialist, will provide individual consultations by appointment from 1:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. on Friday, April 17. Each consultation is 30 minutes and you must register in advance. Michael will address all your questions regarding your benefits from Social Security.
Examples include:
•Should I qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits?
•How can I apply?
•How should my work earnings affect my SSDI or SSI?
•Can I use any safety nets (called work incentives) to limit the impact of my earnings on my benefits?
•How do I report my earnings to Social Security?
•How can I document my use of work incentives?
•How can I make sure Social Security has me correctly coded as blind in their system?
•If Social Security’s system does not show that I’m blind, how can I get this corrected?
•What will happen to my SSDI benefits when I reach full retirement age?
•How can I get expert help navigating the impact of work earnings on my benefits?
